Brief Summary

We live in a world that tears us apart, demanding our attention and time.  There are moments when we want to scream and escape and let the burdens fall from our shoulders.  An Oasis in a Cluttered World is a book that allows you chapter by chapter to immerse yourself in a quiet refuge as you forget the chaos.  It beckons you to let go, relax, and savor life’s many riches.  There is also woven into the written pages a universal spiritual strand regarding life’s journey and the understanding that evolves.

The book is organized so that it can be read non-sequentially, start in the middle, or back if you desire.  The book contains my poems written for those who enjoy thought provoking muses as well as lyrics that are understandable and unpretentious.  Even if poetry is not your favorite genre, there are vignettes, short essays, and recommendations to captivate your interest.  However, do not be surprised if your preconceived ideas regarding poetry are positively altered, as you read about the last leaf on a tree before the onset of winter or exotic Maui’s magnificent Mt. Haleakala or reminiscence on a life-changing decision.

As you read, we will be having a private conversation–a social interaction–my words and your thoughts and reactions.  Where they take you will be your personal adventure.  Occasionally, others will join us when you read the poems and vignettes written by guest authors.  At the end of the book, you will have the option to offer your thoughts and even win some cash.

In summary, An Oasis in a Cluttered World speaks to a mystical, quiet place where water for the soul is plentiful and the extreme heat of the desert and the blast furnace of sand no longer scorch and beat upon you

What some people are saying (More comments will be added as they arrive.) –

"Much to my delight, I just received . . . your new book. The cover is just perfect, as is the title. What better way to find serenity and escape some of life's stressful moments and the crazy emotions of a sometimes scattered, and often "cluttered world, " than a walk on the beach – anywhere, any time. . .After all, an oasis can either be an illusion or a reality; it matters not; whether in the midst of a desert, on the highest mountain, a cabin in the woods, or simply in a room with a view . . . I know that the sales are going to be great!! " and she wrote later "Since I've read your book several times now, I've found a few favorites I wanted to mention to you: In addition to many of yours, which I've previously written about, my other favorites are The Crystal and Where Have All the Bubbles Gone? Indeed, how fragile and truly magical are crystals and bubbles! The poem by Penny Rauzi, First The Budd, speaks volumes about the importance of nurturing a friendship, with kindness and gentle thoughts, without which it will not endure...excellent poem. Also, I was intrigued by another outstanding poem, Protective Shells, by G. L. Rush. It reminded me of a poem I started a year or so ago, simply entitled Walls, one that I have never finished, but the concept of a safe distance was much the same as my own thought process ...I may well go back to it....And, finally, I was thoroughly amused with Jerry's Laurie the Lion...what a great sense of humor he has...delightful and refreshing!! A great book, Bob" Sharon from Texas

"Vera and I have certainly enjoyed the book" Robert from Colorado

"Thank you for another lovely book...I especially like Where Have All the Bubbles Gone and Balloon Festival..." Dalene

"Just wanted to let you know I received your new book and as always it was done beautifully..." Sharon from Florida

"I drew a hot bath last night and soaked while I read your latest book. It is - again - wonderful! Each poem takes the reader to another world, another time, another place...My imagination was satisfied again upon reading it! Keep on writing..." Island Woman

"Many thanks . . . for . . . An Oasis in a Cluttered World. A small space of shalom after the Christmas season and what preceded it is just what every pastor needs . . ." – Pastor John (Ed.: There was much more but rather personal so not included. However, I was made aware that in one sermon, examples from the book were used twice.)

"I have thoroughly enjoyed the book I won, I have read it going on 4 times now, and I get a different version everytime, it is SO wonderful. . .I shared your book with my son`s photography teacher, and he said you have a way of putting things into certain perspective. He really liked two parts of your book, and he asked if he can borrow the book. . ." – Vi from Alberta
