Can one know heights of joy without tasting the bile of sorrow?
We celebrate the birth of a child and mourn the death of a loved one.
Instead, should we not celebrate both?
The one who lived and the one to become
Likewise, should we not mourn both?
The touch no longer felt
And the innocence lost forever.

Comments: Antitheses? -- sorrow and joy; death and birth. As the poem alludes, perhaps they are more complementary than opposites.
