Background: Larry Zimmerman wrote "except for the time I was away for college, have lived in the Mansfield, Ohio area all my life. Writing is a hobby of mine, which includes a number of short stories, an on going journal, and some poetry. I have had one of my stories published. My wife (of 42 years) and I love to travel; have been to Great Britain, Egypt, Venice, and many of the Caribbean Islands on cruises. We are also both very much into fitness and bike together religiously on our beloved bike trail not far from  home. My poem The Table was about a table we had built by an Amish cabinet maker. Part of antiquing it included dragging it up and down his lane with his horse. It is a beautiful piece of art and the center of many good times with our family and friends." Click here to contact Larry.

The Table

It’s rustic face hewn by saw and ax

cradles all that is good.

A perch for candles and their flames

Wine in stem glasses

conversation oh so sweet

Children around it’s boarder an impetus for their games

It beckons tears and laughter and elbows

for leaning.

A place of repose, stands mellow and soft

inviting the next hungry soul.
