VOLUME XXII – Issue 12: Sunday, January 28, 2023 (269th Issue)

Entrance area to the Lumineria Display at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah

...Opening Comments from Bob

This Page: In recent years, the January issue, the final issue of the Poetical Journal year, is a summary looking back over the previous year, highlighting my favorite poems and pictures. (The first issue of the PJ was published in February, 2001.) However, this issue we will pictorially focus on a special event that occurs annually at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi over the Christmas Holidays, the lumineria display. (Faithful readers are familiar with Thanksgiving Point as they have seen the pictorial displays of tulips and gardens that I have published in previous issues.) Hence, rather than wait until February, I believed the timing for these pictures was a better fit for the January issue. This issue completes 22 years of publication, having never missed a publication date.

The three new poems are First Flakes, Ice Castles, and Sky.

All the pictures that follow were taken the first week of January at the Lumineria Display at Thanksgiving Point.

Slightly blurred partially due the lights changing and blinking.

Three Poems this Month

Comments: The snows arrive early in the mountains allowing the ski areas to open early. Then suddenly
they stopped. In January they returned. This poem was written in 2023.

Comments: Definitely, this poem alludes to deeper meanings and hanging on to impermanence.

Comments: Enjoy your interpretation.
