Another Day
We decided to travel to a small beach nearest us. Since it was a Sunday and the locals like it because of its proximity and isolation, we knew we had to arrive before 11 a.m. We obtained the last parking space in the small lot. The road in was a bit rough helping us realize why many tourists do not choose it. They prefer the beaches via the well-paved roads close to the resorts.
Hookena Beach Park
The beach consists of black sand. There are ample tables for picnics and family gatherings. Many were grilling their lunch. The picture on the left shows a shallow area for children and on the right, Janice enjoying the sun.

The Coffee Shack has been on our “to dine” list for many years. We finally enjoyed lunch there on our return from Hookena Beach. We were not disappointed. The baked goods
especially tempting. The chai latte was made to perfection. Great ocean view! Be aware, that parking is limited, and expect a wait. We arrived around 1 PM and waited 30 minutes. It is even busier with the breakfast crowd.
