Sound
Sitting quietly lost in thought
one spring morning
Thinking randomly about life
Wanting to wrap myself in quietness
Off in the distance the sounds of drills intruded
The new house going up across the way
The church bell rang unexpectedly
on this Saturday morning
The gentle tumbling of the fountain waters
 asserted their presence
Thoughts turned to sounds
The faint repetitions of the crickets could be heard
My senses came attuned to the rhythms of life

Comments: We have all experienced those times when we become lost in thought, and then suddenly, we become aware of what is occurring around us. In this case, the sounds made themselves known. While this poem could have been placed under Life, this May experience actually became one of beauty' -- consequently, its placement here.
